Real GDP grew at an annual rate of 3.9% in the third quarter of 2004,
according to today's preliminary estimate. This follows a growth rate of
3.3% in the previous quarter. Corporate profits decreased $27.6 billion in
the third quarter, following an $8.3 billion second-quarter increase.
